WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BRAZIL (population)

Brazil is located in South America. It is the largest country in South America. In January 2004, Brazilian populationwent over180 millions inhabitants. It wasverified by a research institute named IBGE (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatstica)whichfulfilled it in 2004. Demographic studies have also concludedthat families have had less children than before. In 1960, there was an average of 6 children perwoman. It dropped to 2,89 in 1991 andto 2,39 in 2000. The average projection to 2023 must be 2,01 children per woman. If the population growth had kept itsrhythm in the 50s, we would be a number of 262millons of Brazilians.
Our fecundityrates have decreased due to the changes in the Brazilian family, such ashousewifesstartingbeing encouraged into the labor market and the popularization of the contraceptives. In 2000, in anaverage of 2,39 kids per woman, Brazilwas in the 75thranking position among the 192 countries or areas compared by ONU.According to the last survey, thethe most populated state is still So Paulo which carries 10.434,252 followed by Rio de Janeiro, 5.857,904.
