In general, we DO or PLAY sport. We don't practise sport.
We use three different verbs for specific sports: PLAY, DO and GO.
PLAY
We usually use play with:
- sports that need a ball or similar object
- team sports
- competitive sports
- games
DOWe usually use do with: - an individual sport or activity
- fighting sports -
- hobbies or activities we do in our free time
GO
We usually use go with: - activities that end in -ing
- activities which involve going somewhere to do them
