One of the loudest, angriest boy was Thomas. He was red in the face and�3_kicking the door with determination. He was really uncontrollable.

Locked inside the cubicle , Richard couldn�t keep his eye off �his new Swatch. He kept asking himself: �Why doesn�t the bell ring?� The break 4 over by now.�

Finally the bell rang, the boys 5_ their siege and went back to their classroom.

But Thomas didn�t. He was too angry. He _6_outside the cubicle in complete silence, and when Richard timidly emerged, Thomas 7 himself on him and kicked and hit like a fury.

Then Mr Grant arrived and the fear Thomas felt about 10without homework, 11 Richard for a moment.

Why hadn�t he done his English task ��the night before?

What�s ��the use of spending all that time on the trunk business ? To find a ridiculous ,-yes, it was ridiculous now- a very ridiculous skull? And why 12 Mrs Berrin�s invitation to supper and the game of chess that he regularly lost?
It was very late when he 13
home and he had fallen asleep immediately.

Well, he was lucky this morning. The teacher had not chosen �to check his copybook.

�But now he was saying:
� And now, as Richard kindly reminded me earlier on,� 14
our test on irregular verbs.�

Teachers are creatures with special powers, said his friend Bingo, and it was really true. Where 15 to sit during the test? Just next to Richard , who kept his eyes averted from him. �

Thomas was staring at the blank sheet, with a blank mind, still 16 everything about �the evening before �except for Mrs Berrin�s pizza, when a small card was pushed under his sheet.
