JOHN LENNON
John Winston Ono
Lennon, was born on the 9
th October
1940 in Liverpool. He was an English pop star singer, composer and songwriter.
He was also the Beatles guitarist. The Beatles was the name of the rock band he
founded in 1960.
He
first married Cynthia Powell in 1962. Together, they had a son named Julian.
Later in 1969, he married Yoko Ono, a Japanese artist. They also had a son:
Sean.
At
the end of the 1960�s, Lennon launched a solo career after the band broke up.
He wrote two albums entitled
John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and
Imagine, and well-known songs such as
"
Give
Peace a Chance"
and "
Imagine".
Lennon
revealed a rebellious nature and became a peace activist. He moved to New York
City in 1971, and harshly criticized the
Vietnam War. His songs were adapted as anthems
by the anti-war movement.He
was murdered in 1980, three weeks after the release of his comeback album,
� Double
Fantasy.
