Read the following text carefully then do the activities below.
On October 24, 1945 representatives of fiftyone nations met to form an association called the United Nations Organization. The two main aims of the UNO are the maintenance of international peace and security and the promotion of human welfare through out the world. Since then the organization has survived with difficulty. It has faced a series of international disputes that could have involved the world in a nuclear war. The successful handling of these conflicts has proved that the UNO can help in the maintenance of world peace.
If the UNO had failed to settle them, the world might, by now, have been involved in a global war and completely destroyed .If it can continue to settle struggles peacefully, the fear of a world wide disaster will disappear. If it fails, there may be no further hope for mankind.
