Why Are There Seven Days in a Week? The first convenient division of time was the month. A�cycle of the moon lasted about 29 and a half days - 4 was the best division they could find. So today we still use the seven day week.

�SUNDAY� The first day of the week is Sunday. Sunday is the day of the week between Saturday and Monday. Sunday is considered a holy day.

�MONDAY�Monday is second day of the week. Monday is the day of the week between Sunday and Tuesday. Monday has often been called a blue day.

�TUESDAY��Tuesday is third day of the week. Tuesday is the day of the week between Monday and Wednesday. Tuesday has often been known as fat Tuesday.

�WEDNESDAY� Wednesday is the mid-day of the week. Wednesday is often referred to as "hump day".

�THURSDAY .... Thursday is fifth day of the week. Thursday is the day of the week between Wednesday and Friday. Thursday, the fifth day of the week was known as "dies jovis"

�FRIDAY��Friday is sixt day of the week. Friday is one of the most popular days in the week, because� in the Western World it is the last workday of the week.

�SATURDAY� Saturday is last day of the week. Saturdays are a popular day for weddings in Christian cultures because it is typically a day free from work.
