TEARS IN HEAVEN
ERIC CLAPTON
"Tears in heaven" is a ballad written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings about the pain and loss Clapton felt following the death of his four-year-old son, Conor. Conor fell from a window of the 53rd floor New York apartment of his mother´s friend on March 20 th , 1991. This is one of Clapton´s most successful songs and it won several awards.
The song might help you with conditional clauses (second type). Watch the video and do the exercises below.
Fill in the blanks:
Would you
my
if I
you in heaven?
Would it be the
if I
you in heaven?
I must be
and
on,
'cause I know I don´t
here in heaven.
Choose the correct option:
Would you
have my heart
hold my hand
hole the gap
if I
show
so
saw
Would you
help me stand
held my son
help me son
if I
show
so
saw
I´ll
write away
find my way
file my day
through
light of day
night and day
light they say
'cause I
know
no
now
I just
came to
can
can´t
stay
here in
hearing
healing
Time
came for you now
can bring you down
may leave you now
, time can bend
your knees
you sneeze
journeys
Time
can´t break you apart
can't tell you are sad
can break your heart
have you
really pleased
begging please
bending knees
bis
Be on the wall
Beyond the door
Below the floor
there´s
a piece of chalk
peace I´ll show
peace I´m sure
And I
A day
and they
know there`ll be
no more
enormous
now more
tears in heaven.
