First, second and third Conditional
First Conditional:
The First conditional is used to talk about a condition or situation that will possibly happen in the future. It is important to note that it is always about the future AND that it is probable that the condition/situation will happen.
For example, if you live in the UK, you could say "If it rains tomorrow, I will take my umbrella to work". In the UK it rains very often so it raining is very probable.
IF
Condition
result
present simple
WILL + base verb
If
it rains
I will take my umbrella to work
Please note
, that it is NOT necessary to start the sentence with 'If'. You could say, "When I next see my sister, I will give her a kiss". It is possible to ask questions in the first conditional "If it is sunny tomorrow, what will you do?"
A few other examples, "If I have an English lesson tomorrow, I will take my exercise book", "If it is sunny tomorrow, I will wear a t-shirt" and "When I go to the supermarket, I will buy a loaf of bread"

Second Conditional
The second conditional is also used to refer to the future BUT about a condition/event/situation that is impossible or very unlikely. The second condtional is often used for wishes and dreams.
If
condition
result
past simple
WOULD + base verb
If
I became a billionaire
I would help the poor
Please note, "I would" can also become "I'd". Questions can be asked in the second conditional for example, "Where would you go, if you could live anywhere in the world?"
A few examples, "If I were you, I would study harder". It is totally impossible for you to be someone else, which is why we use the 2nd conditional.
"If I had a million dollars, I would buy a big house in Miami". It is possible for some people to have a million dollars but for most of us it is a dream.
"If I married Tom Cruise, I would act in one of his films". Again it is possible, theoretically but highly unlikely!!
